He Didn’t Throw the Clay Away

Jeremiah 18:3-10 MSG

3     So I went to the potter’s house, and sure enough, the potter was there, working away at his wheel.

4     Whenever the pot the potter was working on turned out badly, as sometimes happens when you are working with clay, the potter would simply start over and use the same clay to make another pot.

5     Then God’s Message came to me:

6     “Can’t I do just as this potter does, people of Israel?” God’s Decree! “Watch this potter. In the same way that this potter works his clay, I work on you, people of Israel.

7     At any moment I may decide to pull up a people or a country by the roots and get rid of them.

8     But if they repent of their wicked lives, I will think twice and start over with them.

9     At another time I might decide to plant a people or country,

10   but if they don’t cooperate and won’t listen to me, I will think again and give up on the plans I had for them.

  1. Stop being treated and acting like trash
  2. Remember God is still molding and/or transforming us today

Romans 12:2 TPT – Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.

Romans 8:6-9 TPT6 For the sense and reason of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace. 7 In fact, the mind-set focused on the flesh fights God’s plan and refuses to submit to his direction, because it cannot! 8 For no matter how hard they try, God finds no pleasure with those who are controlled by the flesh. 9 But when the Spirit of Christ empowers your life, you are not dominated by the flesh but by the Spirit. And if you are not joined to the Spirit of the Anointed One, you are not of him.

  1. Avoid the effects of a stuck or lost mind.

Mark 7:20-23 TPT20 He added, “Words and deeds pollute a person, not food. 21 Evil originates from inside a person. Coming out of a human heart are evil schemes, sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed, wickedness, treachery, debauchery, jealousy, slander, arrogance, and recklessness. 23 All these corrupt things emerge from within and constantly defile a person.”

  1. Perform a mind-set check

1 Corinthians 3:3 TPT – for you are living your lives dominated by the mind-set of the flesh. Ask yourselves: Is there jealousy among you? Do you compare yourselves with others? Do you quarrel like children and end up taking sides? If so, this proves that you are living your lives centered on yourselves, dominated by the mind-set of the flesh, and behaving like unbelievers.

Romans 8:10-11 TPT10 Now Christ lives his life in you! And even though your body may be dead because of the effects of sin, his life-giving Spirit imparts life to you because you are fully accepted by God. 11 Yes, God raised Jesus to life! And since God’s Spirit of Resurrection lives in you, he will also raise your dying body to life by the same Spirit that breathes life into you!

Revelation 21:3-8 CEV3 I heard a loud voice shout from the throne: God’s home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people. 4 He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever. 5 Then the one sitting on the throne said: I am making everything new. Write down what I have said. My words are true and can be trusted. 6 Everything is finished! I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will freely give water from the life-giving fountain to everyone who is thirsty. 7 All who win the victory will be given these blessings. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 8 But I will tell you what will happen to cowards and to everyone who is unfaithful or dirty-minded or who murders or is sexually immoral or uses witchcraft or worships idols or tells lies. They will be thrown into that lake of fire and burning sulfur. This is the second death.

Philippians 2:5 TPT – And consider the example that Jesus, the Anointed One, has set before us. Let his mindset become your motivation.
