Psalm 34:17-22 (CEB)
17 When the righteous cry out, the Lord listens; he delivers them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he saves those whose spirits are crushed.
19 The righteous have many problems, but the Lord delivers them from every one.
20 He protects all their bones; not even one will be broken.
21 But just one problem will kill the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be held responsible.
22 The Lord saves his servants’ lives; all those who take refuge in him won’t be held responsible for anything.
Brokenness is often accompanied by emptiness –
- A void that cannot be filled.
- A sorrow that cannot be comforted.
- A wound for which there is no balm .
Nothing feels blessed about being broken!
Brokenness is a spiritual condition that attracts God’s attention.
Sometimes the only way the light can shine is to break the vessel.
Judges 7:19-20 (NLT)
19 It was just after midnight, after the changing of the guard, when Gideon and the 100 men with him reached the edge of the Midianite camp. Suddenly, they blew the rams’ horns and broke their clay jars. 20 Then all three groups blew their horns and broke their jars. They held the blazing torches in their left hands and the horns in their right hands, and they all shouted, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!”
God breaks us through. . .
