Matthew 7:24-27 NLT
24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.
25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.
26 But anyone who hears my teaching and ignores it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand.
27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
Proverbs 4:5, 7 NLT – 5 Get wisdom; develop good judgment. Don’t forget my words or turn away from them. 7 Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.
Understanding is the facts.
Wisdom is how to use the facts.
James 1:5 NLT – If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
Matthew 5:13 NLT – “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
Matthew 6:5-6, 9 NLT – 5 “When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. 6 But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. 9 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
Matthew 6:19, 25-30, 33 NLT – 19 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Matthew 7:1-2 NLT – 1 “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. 2 For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.
Joshua 24:15 KJV – And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Isaiah 38:1 KJV – In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.
2 Corinthians 5:1 KJV – For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
John 14:2 KJV – In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
- Whatever house you build, you get to live in it.
- Spirituality is what distinguishes people.
