What to do When You’re Sick and Tired of being Sick and Tired

Matthew 11:28-30 KJV

28   Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29   Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30   For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30 CEV

28   If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest.

29   Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest.

30   This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light.

Jesus tells us what we have

  1. Restlessness
  2. Yoke

Yoked to:

  • Perfectionism
  • People pleasing

Leviticus 26:13 KJV – I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.

Isaiah 10:27 KJV – And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Jeremiah 27:2 KJV – Thus saith the LORD to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck,

1 Kings 12:4 KJV – Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.

“A” has power over “B” to the extent that he can make “B” do something “B” would not do otherwise.

“A” exercises power over “B” by influencing, shaping, or determining what “B” wants.

“A” exercising power over “B” by determining what the issues are and how “B” should see the issues.

Jeremiah 6:16 KJV – Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

Job 11:13-18 CEV13 Surrender your heart to God, turn to him in prayer, 14 and give up your sins— even those you do in secret. 15 Then you won’t be ashamed; you will be confident and fearless. 16 Your troubles will go away like water beneath a bridge, 17 and your darkest night will be brighter than noon. 18 You will rest safe and secure, filled with hope and emptied of worry.

You won’t be ashamed.

You will be confident.

You will be fearless.

Troubles will be like water under a bridge.

You will sleep well.

You will be filled with hope.

You will be free of worry.
