Philippians 4:2-5 NAS
2 I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to live in harmony in the Lord.
3 Indeed, true companion, I ask you also to help these women who have shared my struggle in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!
5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near.
Philippians 1:27 NKJ – Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel,
Philippians 2:2-3 NKJ – 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
Philippians 3:15-16 NKJ – 15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.
Euodia means prominent.
Syntyche means prosperous.

How to be Gentle
- Decide you want to be that way
- Understand the adventure of gentleness-kindness
- Think about what others are going through not just yourself
Philippians 2:4-5 LBT – 4 Don’t just think about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and in what they are doing. 5 Your attitude should be the kind that was shown us by Jesus Christ,
- When someone disappoints you, be less judgmental and more gracious.
Romans 14:1 NAS – Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions.
- Be more accepting of people who may disagree with you.
2 Timothy 2:24-25 NLT – 24 A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. 25 Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth.
- Gentleness means to take a stand for the voiceless and vulnerable in society.
The only way to standup for the same people Jesus stood up for is to stand against the same things Jesus stood up against.
“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle.”
