Proverbs 22:7 NIV – The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. Financial freedom is simply being free from anxiety about financial matters. Your wealth is your asset.

Wealth is assets minus liabilities. Wealth is subtracting what you owe from what you own. Wealth is a more accurate measurement of your financial well-being. Proverbs 22:7 NIV – The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

How to Stay on Top of Your Finances

1. Keep good records Proverbs 27:23-24 NLT – 23 Know the state of your flocks, and put your heart into caring for your herds, 24 for riches don’t last forever, and the crown might not be passed to the next generation. Ignorance of where you are plus easy credit equal financial disaster.

Things to Know

A. What I own

B. What I owe

C. What I earn

D. Where it goes

2. Plan your spending

A budget is telling your money where you want it to go instead of wondering where it went. Proverbs 21:5 GNV – Plan carefully and you will have plenty; if you act too quickly, you will never have enough. Your yearning sometimes exceeds your earning. Proverbs 21:20 GNV – Wise people live in wealth and luxury, but stupid people spend their money as fast as they get it.

3. Plan for the future Proverbs 6:6-8 GNV – 6 Lazy people should learn a lesson from the way ants live. 7 They have no leader, chief, or ruler, 8 but they store up their food during the summer, getting ready for winter.

4. Enjoy what you already have Proverbs 21:7 GNV – The wicked are doomed by their own violence; they refuse to do what is right. Hebrews 13:5 GNV – Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.”

5. Give my tithe back to God Proverbs 3:9-10 GNV – 9 Honor the Lord by making him an offering from the best of all that your land produces. 10 If you do, your barns will be filled with grain, and you will have too much wine to store it all.
