SERIES: From Teething to Tithing
1 Corinthians 16:1-4 CEV
1 When you collect money for God’s people,
I want you to do exactly what I told the
churches in Galatia to do.
2 That is, each Sunday each of you must
put aside part of what you have earned.
If you do this, you won’t have to take up a
collection when I come.
3 Choose some followers to take the money to
Jerusalem. I will send them on with the money
and with letters which show that you approve
of them.
4 If you think I should go along, they can go
with me.
Acts 11:28-30 CEV
28 One of them was Agabus. Then with the help
of the Spirit, he told that there would be a
terrible famine everywhere in the world. And
it happened when Claudius was Emperor.
29 The followers in Antioch decided to send
whatever help they could to the followers in
30 So they had Barnabas and Saul take their
gifts to the church leaders in Jerusalem.
Romans 15:25-29 CEV
25 I am now on my way to Jerusalem to deliver
the money
26 that the Lord’s followers in Macedonia and
Achaia collected for God’s needy people.
27 This is something they really wanted to do. But
sharing their money with the Jews was also
like paying back a debt, because the Jews
had already shared their spiritual blessings
with the Gentiles.
28 After I have safely delivered this money, I will
visit you and then go on to Spain.
29 And when I do arrive in Rome, I know it will be
with the full blessings of Christ.
2 Corinthians 8:9-11 CEV

tenth of everything.
Jacob CONTINUED tithing
Genesis 28:20-22 CEV – 20 Jacob
solemnly promised God, “If you go
with me and watch over me as I
travel, and if you give me food and
clothes 21 and bring me safely home
again, you will be my God. 22 This
rock will be your house, and I will give
back to you a tenth of everything
you give me.”
Moses COMMANDED tithing
Leviticus – 27:30 CEV – Ten percent
of everything you harvest is holy and
belongs to me, whether it grows in
your fields or on your fruit trees.
Malachi CONFIRMED tithing
Malachi 3:8-10 CEV – 8 You people
are robbing me, your God. And,
here you are, asking, “How are we
robbing you?” You are robbing
me of the offerings and of the ten
percent that belongs to me. 9 That’s
why your whole nation is under a
curse. 10 I am the Lord All-Powerful,
and I challenge you to put me to the
test. Bring the entire ten percent into
the storehouse, so there will be food
in my house. Then I will open the
windows of heaven and flood you
with blessing after blessing.
Jesus COMMENDED tithing
Matthew 23:23 NLT – “What sorrow
awaits you teachers of religious
law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites!
For you are careful to tithe even
the tiniest income from your herb
gardens, but you ignore the more
important aspects of the law—
justice, mercy, and faith. You should
tithe, yes, but do not neglect the
more important things.
Who are you to CANCEL tithing?
