Songs in the Night

SERIES: When All Hell Breaks Loose
Job 35:10 KJV
But none saith, Where is God my maker, who
giveth songs in the night;
Job’s friends are UNCONVINCING.
Job is UNCONFESSING.
Ages 1-11 they IDOLIZE
Ages 12-17 they DEMONIZE
Ages 18-25 they UTILIZE
Ages 26-30 they HARMONIZE
Ages 30 and above they HUMANIZE
I. God blesses us MORE than we
DESERVE
Job 33:19-26 NIV – 19 “Or someone may be
chastened on a bed of pain with constant distress in
their bones, 20 so that their body finds food repulsive
and their soul loathes the choicest meal. 21 Their
flesh wastes away to nothing, and their bones, once
hidden, now stick out. 22 They draw near to the pit,
and their life to the messengers of death. 23 Yet if
there is an angel at their side, a messenger, one out
of a thousand, sent to tell them how to be upright, 24
and he is gracious to that person and says to God,
‘Spare them from going down to the pit; I have found
a ransom for them— 25 let their flesh be renewed like
a child’s; let them be restored as in the days of their
youth’— 26 then that person can pray to God and
find favor with him, they will see God’s face and shout
for joy; he will restore them to full well-being.
II. God is greater than we can
COMPREHEND
Job 37:14-18 NLT – 14 “Pay attention to this, Job. Stop
and consider the wonderful miracles of God! 15 Do
you know how God controls the storm and causes
the lightning to flash from his clouds? 16 Do you
understand how he moves the clouds with wonderful
perfection and skill? 17 When you are sweltering
in your clothes and the south wind dies down and
everything is still, 18 he makes the skies reflect the
heat like a bronze mirror. Can you do that?
III. God gives SONGS in the NIGHT
Job 35:10 – Yet they don’t ask, ‘Where is God my
Creator, the one who gives songs in the night?
Singing messes the DEVIL UP
1 Samuel 16:15-23 NLT – 15 Some of Saul’s servants
said to him, “A tormenting spirit from God is troubling
you. 16 Let us find a good musician to play the harp
whenever the tormenting spirit troubles you. He will play
soothing music, and you will soon be well again.” 17
“All right,” Saul said. “Find me someone who plays well,
and bring him here.” 18 One of the servants said to Saul,
“One of Jesse’s sons from Bethlehem is a talented harp
player. Not only that—he is a brave warrior, a man of
war, and has good judgment. He is also a fine-looking young man, and the Lord is with him.” 19 So Saul sent
messengers to Jesse to say, “Send me your son David,
the shepherd.” 20 Jesse responded by sending David to
Saul, along with a young goat, a donkey loaded with
bread, and a wine skin full of wine. 21 So David went
to Saul and began serving him. Saul loved David very
much, and David became his armor bearer. 22 Then
Saul sent word to Jesse asking, “Please let David remain
in my service, for I am very pleased with him.” 23 And
whenever the tormenting spirit from God troubled Saul,
David would play the harp. Then Saul would feel better,
and the tormenting spirit would go away.

Psalm 103:1-5 KJV – 1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all
that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the Lord, O
my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth
all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who
redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth
thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who
satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is
renewed like the eagle’s.

Lamentations 3:22-23 KJV – 22 It is of the Lord’s mercies
that we are not consumed, because his compassions
