Jesus Has a Tree-Mendous Touch
SERIES: Radical Followers of Christ
Mark 8:22-25 KJV
22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought
him to touch him.
23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he
had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
24 And he looked up , and said * , I see men as * trees, walking .
25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up : and he
was restored , and saw every man clearly.
I. People are only CHRISTIANIZED when they are EVANGELIZED
II. GOD’s miracles are not for PUBLIC RELATIONS
Mark 16:17 KJV – And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name
shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Miracles are not performed to INVOKE faith but of INFORM faith.
2 Kings 20:1-7 NLT – 1 About that time Hezekiah became deathly ill, and the
prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to visit him. He gave the king this message: “This
is what the Lord says: Set your affairs in order, for you are going to die. You will
not recover from this illness.” 2 When Hezekiah heard this, he turned his face to
the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, O Lord, how I have always been
faithful to you and have served you single-mindedly, always doing what pleases
you.” Then he broke down and wept bitterly. 4 But before Isaiah had left the middle
courtyard, this message came to him from the Lord: 5 “Go back to Hezekiah, the
leader of my people. Tell him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor
David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you, and
three days from now you will get out of bed and go to the Temple of the Lord. 6 I
will add fifteen years to your life, and I will rescue you and this city from the king of
Assyria. I will defend this city for my own honor and for the sake of my servant
David.’” 7 Then Isaiah said, “Make an ointment from figs.” So Hezekiah’s servants
spread the ointment over the boil, and Hezekiah recovered!
III. It’s not enough to see JESUS right, we must see People Right.
Luke 10:25-27 KJV – 25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him,
saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 26 He said unto him, What is
written in the law? how readest thou? 27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love
the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength,
and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
John 3:16 KJV – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1 John 3:16 GNV – This is how we know what love is: Christ gave his life for us.
We too, then, ought to give our lives for others!
