He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. 43 He had him ride in a chariot as his second-in-command, and men shouted before him, “Make way !” Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt. 44 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, but without your word no one will lift hand or foot in all Egypt.” 45 Pharaoh gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-Paneah and gave him Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, to be his wife. And Joseph went throughout the land of Egypt. 46 Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from Pharaoh’s presence and traveled throughout Egypt. 47 During the seven years of abundance the land produced plentifully. 48 Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. In each city he put the food grown in the fields surrounding it. 49 Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea; it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure. 50 Before the years of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On. 51 Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh and said, “It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.” Psalm 105:16-19 NIV – 16 He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food; 17 and he sent a man before them– Joseph, sold as a slave. 18 They bruised his feet with shackles, his neck was put in irons, 19 till what he foretold came to pass, till the word of the LORD proved him true. Isaiah 43:18-19 GNV – 18 But the Lord says, “Do not cling to events of the past or dwell on what happened long ago. 19Watch for the new thing I am going to do. It is happening already – you can see it now! I will make a road through the wilderness and give you streams of water there. Bitterness is when you become the slave of a painful MEMORY. Your life is what you chose to REMEMBER. BROODERS are never BUILDERS. Philippians 3:13 KJV – Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, God made him to forget by giving Joseph new things to REMEMBER. How to give birth to Manasseh in your life 1. If you don’t RELEASE your offender, you will begin to RESEMBLE your offender. 2. It’s your past EXPERIENCES that sets you up for your future EXPECTATIONS. Genesis 50:20 GNV – You plotted evil against me, but God turned it into good, in order to preserve the lives of many people who are alive today because of what happened. Questions for evaluation when coming through a crisis: 1. What did I LEARN 2. Who did I LOVE 3. How will I LIVE 3. Stop looking at where you have BEEN and start planning where you can BE. 4. Learning to forgive means learning to ACT and THINK like God. Hebrews 8:12 NIV – For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.
