The Volunteer Services Ministry at St. Stephen exists to… make it easy for people to serve God, connect with the church, and grow with one another through fellowship.
Our goal is to involve our congregation in meaningful, regular volunteer opportunities. And our vision is to guarantee that every volunteer is empowered, equipped to use his or her gifts, valued, trained, utilized, and appreciated.
Volunteering is a Great Way to…
Connect to God
When you serve in the area of your giftedness, you get joy and energy from serving. It’s not an obligation to be dreaded….. It’s a connection to be deepened. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to put into practice all you have learned in the pew. There’s nothing like knowing God is using you to bring about His purpose in the church, community, and world. If you feel a little disconnected or distant from God, try partnering with Him. When you serve, you and God become partners in His work.
Connect to the Church
Do you feel like you have a special value to God’s great Kingdom and to His people through fun rewarding experiences? Yes! Serving allows you to truly be part of something much greater than yourself. Serving at St. Stephen is the bridge that will take you from attending to belonging. When you serve in a ministry area, you’ll know you are making a real difference. Suddenly this very big church will feel less overwhelming and more like home.
Connect to Others
In a big church like St. Stephen, some people find themselves feeling disconnected or saying, “There are so many people, how will I ever find some friends?” The great news, is that serving alongside others brings people together that otherwise would never have met. Once you serve with others you instantly have something in common. Serving is a great foundation for lifelong friendship. Click here to get started today!

There aspects: Connect – Grow - Serve
1. You Will CONNECT
You are Part of the Body of Christ
The Bible compares the church to a body in I Corinthians 12 and Romans 12. Each person is essential. When one person is missing, the whole body suffers.
(1 Corinthians 12:21-26) The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat wit special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. IF one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that St. Stephen doesn’t need volunteers. Everything seems to be done so well. The truth is that every week, we need hundreds more volunteers than we have. We need you!!!
2. You Will GROW
Those who volunteer find that they gain much more than they give.
Serving Christ is one of the best ways to grow in Christ.
Serving with other people is one of the best ways to get to know other people.
Serving at St. Stephen is one of the best ways to feel at home at St. Stephen.
Serving is a great way to learn new skills and gain new experiences.
Serving is a great way to give thanks to the Lord for all the gifts He has given to you.
3. Your invitation to serve comes not from St. Stephen, but from Jesus Christ.
It is God’s plan to involve every Christian in ministry. Read Ephesian 2:10 & Romans 14:12 for your reference.
