Follow the Leader SERIES: Coping with Stress – The 23rd Psalm for the 21st Century
Psalm 23:3 KJV
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
• MAKING the right decisions EARLY
• MANAGING the right decisions DAILY
We MAKE our decisions and then our decisions MAKE us.
To follow the leader, I must:
I. Admit I need a GUIDE
Isaiah 53:6 KJV – All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way;
and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Proverbs 14:12 NIV – There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
Psalm 25:9 NIV – He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.
II. Ask God in faith for DIRECTIONS
James 1:5-6 LBT – 5 If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask him, and he will gladly
tell you, for he is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask him; he will not
resent it. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to tell you, for a doubtful
mind will be as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind;
III. Listen for God’s RESPONSE
Proverbs 20:30 GNV – Sometimes it takes a painful experience to make us change our ways.
IV. Trust God when it doesn’t make SENSE
Psalm 77:19 LBT – Your road led by a pathway through the sea—a pathway no one knew was
Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV – 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Never criticize an UNFINISHED plan.
V. Quit allowing others to MOLD YOU IN THEIR IMAGE.
