Proverbs 17:22 NLT
22 A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.
The greatest health plan coverage is not Medicaid or Medicare but MERRY-CARE.
HAPPINESS promotes HEALTHINESS.
There are two causes for bad health:
- What you have been EATING
- What’s been EATING at you
Proverbs 4:23 NLT – Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Proverbs 17:23-26 NLT – 23 The wicked take secret bribes to pervert the course of justice. 24 Sensible people keep their eyes glued on wisdom, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth. 25 Foolish children bring grief to their father and bitterness to the one who gave them birth. 26 It is wrong to punish the godly for being good or to flog leaders for being honest.
Guilt is the reality of being WRONG and deserving PUNISHMENT.
Psalm 51:3 NLT – For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night.
Job 10:15 NLT – If I am guilty, too bad for me; and even if I’m innocent, I can’t hold my head high, because I am filled with shame and misery.
God uses guilt to move us towards:
- Make us CHANGE our behavior
2 Corinthians 7:8-11 NLT – 8 I am not sorry that I sent that severe letter to you, though I was sorry at first, for I know it was painful to you for a little while. 9 Now I am glad I sent it, not because it hurt you, but because the pain caused you to repent and change your ways. It was the kind of sorrow God wants his people to have, so you were not harmed by us in any way. 10 For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. 11 Just see what this godly sorrow produced in you! Such earnestness, such concern to clear yourselves, such indignation, such alarm, such longing to see me, such zeal, and such a readiness to punish wrong. You showed that you have done everything necessary to make things right.
